Award Banquet

May 22nd, 2013

Hello Achievers,

Our award banquet will be on Saturday, June 15th, from 11:30am to 2:30pm at Pat Moynihan’s club house in Irvine.  The Address is 3652 Baylor Street, Irvine, CA 92614.

We’ll celebrate the great moments of the season, as well as announce the winners of our prestigious awards including Student of the Year, Member of the Year, and Fastest and Most Laps at Ski A Thon.  Our very own, and international renowned chef, John Lucas, will be handling the food so expect a 5 star lunch.   Please invite your family and friends, especially the ones that have donated to our organization. All we ask is that you RSVP by June 5th so we can plan on the amount of food that is needed.

Let’s end the season with a great party, see everyone on the 15th.

What a Season

May 16th, 2013

Desk of The President

The 2012-13 season is a wrap. Thanks to all of you, students, instructors, board members and others who worked so hard to make it happen. As we wrap things up on a very successful season, I am thankful that things went so well, and that we made it through without any major mishaps.

The May trip was the smallest trip I can recall, with one (rookie) student, Ryan Sinclair, and two instructors, Greg “GW” White and “Commander Steve” Reese. Ryan was joined by his parents Dwayne and Kim, and his dog Tippie. They are an incredible family and I look forward to them skiing with us in the future.

You should be receiving an election ballot soon for board positions for next year. Special thanks to two of our board members who will be leaving their positions, Bernhard Froemel and Patrick Moynihan. Though they will not be serving on the board any longer, they are both fantastic instructors who have made significant contributions to the group over the years. They will be replaced by Greg White as Secretary and Steve Reese as Director of Equipment. I look forward to working with them both on next year’s board.

Our next big event will be our Awards Banquet which will be held on June 15th in Irvine. Please mark you calendars for this event. Our Summit, the meeting in which the new board plans the upcoming season will be held either on June 22nd or July 13th, more info once we firm up a date. Though this is a meeting for our board, all members are welcome to attend. Also, if you have any suggestions for the board for next season, please let us know your ideas.

As this season winds down, I am once again thankful to be the president of this group. I never cease to be amazed at the dedication of our instructors, the inspiration we gain from our students, the awesome support we get from our donors, and how much fun we have in the process. We look forward to seeing you all at the banquet. Have a great summer.

Scuba Diving and Handcycling

May 7th, 2013

Hello Achievers,

I can’t believe our snow season is already over; again, have to say one of the best seasons I’ve experienced.  To make sure you stay active during the summer, we will continue to share other events through other organizations.

This Saturday, May 11th is the next handcycling event, see below for additional details on the event.  Also, our very own Darryl “The Diver” Coit is sharing information on his diving group.  Be sure to read through the entiire email to review both events.

Discover SCUBA – If you ever wanted to try putting on a tank and breathing under water this is a NO COST opportunity.  The event will coincide with training for Handicapped SCUBA Association instructors so you will be in very capable hands. The event will take place June 22nd at a pool in the Pasadena area.  If interested contact:
