The Achievers: Helping Disabled People Learn to Ski

About Us
The Achievers, based in Orange County, CA, is a chapter of Move United that is dedicated to helping disabled people enjoy the beauty and wonder of skiing. Our program is based on two main philosophies:
  1. A person’s abilities far outweigh their disabilities.
  2. A regular routine of recreational sports and hobbies can be the catalyst for a better life overall.
With these two concepts at the heart of our work, we have been able to inspire and aid disabled people throughout California since our founding in the early 1980s. With the help of our program, disabled individuals have been able to learn to ski and regularly participate in skiing trips, making them happier and healthier in a holistic way that is hard to match through other methods.

Why join or support The Achievers?

Have you ever seen a disabled individual and thought of the struggles they face? From physical hardships to mental hurdles, they can face obstacles many of us have never experienced and never will. Our program gives people like this the ability to feel accomplished and inspired by skiing down Mammoth Mountain in California! We teach them how to ski and take them on trips whenever possible. While the skiing is fun, there’s more to it than simply sliding down a snowy mountain. Through the sport, disabled individuals can gain something that is sometimes in short supply: confidence and self-esteem. With your support, we can continue to give disabled individuals throughout Orange County the ability to grow emotionally and physically, all while having a great time. We hope that you can donate your money or time to our program and help fellow Californians today.
