2016 Kickoff Picnic

September 18th, 2016

Greetings Achievers.

Well it’s that time of year again here in Southern California. While the weather doesn’t show it, summer is over and the new ski season will soon be upon us. We have one more official summer event next weekend, and that is our annual kickoff picnic. I’m going to call it or kick off/end of summer celebration picnic. Although we had a lot of people join us yesterday afternoon and last night at the Angels game, don’t pass-up the picnic and let’s have a great turnout.

The Angels game was a lot of fun and it helped that they won! Thank you so much to John for cooking up one heck of a tailgate party feast. Thanks to all who attended and brought appetizers and shared in our group’s wonderful camaraderie. As some of you know I had a guest with me last night and she got to meet just about all of you that attended. On the way home from the game, she commented how wonderful everybody was that she met and what a great group we have. I don’t know about you guys, but I hear that quite often. It makes me very proud to be a part of a group like ours.

Please read Phong’s notice and information about the picnic next Saturday and plan to attend. As always, the more of us that get together, the more fun we have. Also if you would please be so kind as to RSVP so that we can confirm how much food we need to buy. We use the groups funds to purchase food and buying way too much is a waste of our money and not buying enough leave some people without. So I appreciate you taking just a moment to RSVP so we know how many will attend.

I’d like to ask everyone to contact another instructor or student that we have not see in a while or that you want to make sure attends the picnic.  Let’s get as many of our amazing group involved and, in some cases, reacquainted with the achievers.  Please be sure to RSVP for them if they plan to attend.

As I mentioned, winter will soon be upon us. We’re all hoping for a great snow year where we can ski all Mammoth has to offer all season long. Be sure to get your ski legs ready and get in shape so you can do the best job possible on the hill for our students and for our group while having the most fun possible. Conditioning is key to avoiding injuries and not being stiff and sore after spending the day with some of our students. Get yourself on some kind of a conditioning routine now rather than later.

I’m excited for the upcoming year, as we are looking into some new, fun events. Just so you know, one of them that I’m working on is with another disabled group to go water skiing up at Big Bear Lake next summer. They have the adaptive equipment for all of our students and instructors. I’ve seen videos and it looks like it’s a blast. More news to come on that and other events as they come up.

When: Saturday, September 24, 1130-230

Where: 3754 Hamilton Street, Irvine CA

Please RSVP by this Thurday to trips.dsoc@gmail.com

Kindest regards,
